The Afrikaans Illuminati Part III - A Hearts of Iron III AAR

With an election looming early next year we have begun our covert plan to undermine the current democratically elected government of South Africa and replace it with one more sympathetic to our cause.

Prime Minister James Hertzog we can live with. He is a strong advocate of Afrikaan nationalism. It is those around him in the cabinet that are causing us concern. HRH George Villiers  the 6th Lord Clarendon was hand-picked by the British government as a mouthpiece for the United Kingdom.

Jan Smuts must be removed from Office.

Then we have the traitor Jan Smuts. He currently holds six positions in the cabinet, including Foriegn Secretary, Minister of Security and Minister of Intelligence. This does not please us. During The Boer War Smuts fought alongside his Afrikaans brothers, protecting The Orange Free State and Transvaal from the British. For this he earned our respect. But then during the Great War Smuts betrayed his Afrikaans heritage and fought alongside the British. We cannot allow this blatant Anglophile to have so much power in the government.

Such is the power we wield in die Broederbond. We run the factories that produce the goods the people need. By cutting the production of consumer goods the general populace is starting to grow angry and this in turn is leading to public unrest. This combined with negative stories about the government in Die Burger, a national newspaper founded by prominent Broederbond member D.F. Malan, is seeing the governments' approval ratings plummeting.

We have also identified the need for an increase in military spending. We have been troubled by the goings-on in East Africa where open warfare is raging between the Kingdom of Italy and the Ethiopia. Whilst the fighting may be on the other side of the continent, some 5000km away it is a stark reminder that, with their advanced navies, the colonial powers can still reach distant lands like ours.
